Seeing the world for what it is…or isn’t.

For me, “it’s a small world” takes on new meaning in street photography. Even though I’m not necessarily always running into someone I least expect to run into,  more often than not, I feel like the street world I’m capturing is also my world.  And that we’re all in this together.  I was heading home early one evening from one of my nights out on Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale when this brightly colored scene caught my eye.  I was initially drawn to the colors of the subjects (green, red, orange, yellow) that were getting lit up by the adjacent building lights.  First I saw the car, then the two women.  As I got closer, I became a part of the world of the women – the one adjusting the garment of the other.  Maybe it was wardrobe malfunction, or an attempt to prevent one.  We’ve all been there, right?  But the car quickly became the stage for the women.  The bright colors complemented each other, while at the same time competed with one another.  And then there’s the guy in the background watching all this play out.  I couldn’t resist the shot.
